Self-titled project is an exploration for students to use softwares such as
Adobe Photoshop and After effects to create and express their own
individuality and reflect their personality through the use of digital
art self-expression. With the core focus on building self-confidence and
discover our interest and ourselves as whole. For more information of the
project is provided in the link below: https://fauziyusoff.com/dpi/
1. IDEA DEVELOPMENT:
Writing a Biography of ourselves on what we want to portray in the self-title
portrait.
First Biography
Intro:
My name is Fariha and I’m 20 years old. I’m currently in my first year of
Bachelors in Creative Media in Taylor’s.
Paragraph 1:
I used to study Science stream in high school but I loved drawing to
pass the time but never bothered to pursue because I felt that it won’t
make me money. (I’m still broke though). Eventually after a lot of
consideration, I took the risk and give Design course a try, taking the
course made me realize how interesting it was the inner working of
designs around me and I partially took keen interest in animation after
being invested watching cartoons and anime growing up.
Paragraph 2:
In my work, I really want to develop my own sense of style and
feel. So far, I haven’t found anything that represents me, but
my goal is to create range of characters in my animations that
people would enjoy, something that could bring audience to a
different world.
Summary:
To conclude, I enjoy pursuing design as my major
Second Biography
Intro:
As we are needed to use a photo of ourselves. It is a real hassle since I am the kind of person to avoid
taking pictures of myself. I can’t think of anything that can be executed without showing my face.
Paragraph 1:
For my first idea, I wanted to give my portrait a sense of contrast I really like grayscale portrait. So, I decided to create a gray scale and dream like effect transition and take pictures of myself drinking my most favourite drink in the world, ‘Coffee’. For the grayscale setting, I’d like to express my overthinking tendencies by putting scribbled words and highlighting them, ho I’ve been perceived by my peers before they got to know me and how I thought my life was going to be (mundane and dull) before I transition into the dream-like setting, where I began to explore the creativity side of myself and finally found something that really interests me.
Paragraph 2:
For the second idea, I still decided to stick with the theme. But for this one, I wanted to create a portrait on my keen interests, presenting my work, my hobby of listening to horror podcasts and
reading crime documentaries. Not sure yet.
Summary:
I want to create a self expression that highlights overthinking tendencies and my interests and transition to the more creative part of life.

For the animated video, I wanted to create the moving figures in the 'creative' colorful parts to emphasize the creative path that had become my lifelong pursuit.
7. SUBMISSION:
SELF-TITLED POSTER:
TITLE: WHO AM I?
As someone who was searching for her passion, my world was narrowed down to a small pathway due to overthinking. I ask myself about different kind of fields available to me ranging from science, psychology and criminology. Feeling conflicted, I forgot about the one thing that I had been using since childhood, which was doing arts. The poster represents the questions I think of when I made the decision resulting in who I am today, with a little contrast to present the clarity of mind on how I handled intrusive thoughts and think back to my childhood that has helped me decide what I wanted to be in the future among the many paths that I considered and choosing the best one while keeping the rest as my interest and hobbies.

8. REFLECTION
Experience:
For this assignment, I was given the chance to explore new
software which was After effect. It took me a long time to
get used to using Adobe After Effects which I never knew
existed. Since this project was the last project, I was
able apply the skills I have learnt from previous lessons
into this last project and I am satisfied with the
outcome.
Observation:
During my progress of the project, I struggled a lot using
After Effects since the software was still new to me and
the anchor points were really confusing sometimes, this
have caused me to delay my work as began to procrastinate
the work putting a lot of stress on myself. I overcome the
struggle by calling my peers to ask them for help as I had
been really behind with work.
Findings:
Throughout the time of doing this project, I was also
able to reflect on my interests, hobbies and things I
have done in the past, completing the project gave me a
sense of satisfaction since I was able to execute and
relay my messages through the poster.
